FIRST COMIC

— MY ORIGIN ISSUE —

I bought my first comic book

Comic books always been an expensive hobby for me. Despite my habit of spending a lot of money on new interests, I never got around getting a comic to start with. I tried e-reading a couple of times but didn’t really feel it, that’s why even with fiction novels I read, I prefer physical copies to digital versions.

My first comic book:

So I was scrolling through Reddit as usual until I saw a post on these new DC comics called compact comics. These are a combined version of all the issues of a comic story, with much cheaper prize but of course lower quality. The prize despite consisting of 10 to 12 issues each is surprisingly low, lower than the cost of an individual issue. So I bought one.

Ever since I saw superman 2025 movie, I’ve been wanted to read the comics to know more about the superman story. All my knowledge was based on previous superman movies and from the DC animated shows. So I bought All-star Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely.

The Comic Book Experience:

So how was my first comic book experience. The moment I turned the first page, It’s been quite an “awe” feeling. The art was so stunning I could stare at it forever. Initially I had difficulty navigating the dialogue flow from frame to frame, but I got the hang of it eventually. The story was great, it started off straight from Klark Kent working at the daily planet, I was hoping it would introduce the origin story but that’s okay. It has a total of 12 issues combined, it took me about 3 or 4 hours to complete.

It was an awesome read and I’m sure loving the comic book experience.
